Ice lollies are a perfect treat for little ones to enjoy during the hot summer months. To make it more fun; they can help create the smoothie ice lollies themselves!

Smoothie ice lollies are much healthier than shop brought alternatives as they contain far less sugar. Creating your own ice lollies also encourages your little ones to be creative as well as the recipe being an easy to follow. All you need to create these tasty treats is an ice lolly mould, some fresh fruits such as summer berries or pineapple, natural yogurt and milk.

For this recipe you can make as many different coloured smoothie mixes as you like. These can be layered to create a vibrant coloured ice lolly. For example for a deep purple smoothie mix use summer berries such as blackberries and raspberries. Or perhaps Kale for a healthy green colour. This is a perfect and fun way to practice colours with your child.

-Encourage your child to wash their hands before starting. Let them give the fruit a wash before preparing the smoothie mixes.

-Pop the fruits into a blender with the yogurt and blend using the milk to loosen. Repeat this with your other mixes. If you would like to layer your smoothie mixes fill the moulds part of the way with one colour then layer others on top to create a colourful stripey effect. You can make as many coloured mixes is you like so you could end with a really vibrant looking ice lolly. This allows your child to be creative and create some delicious looking lollies. Remember to still assist your child so they don’t overfill the moulds.

-Leave for 3 hours or even overnight until frozen solid and then enjoy!
