Your slow cooker isn't just for main courses!

Has your slow cooker been banished to the back of a cupboard? Forgotten about amidst the summer heat? Is it patiently waiting for those cold winter nights before it can star once again on your kitchen worktop, churning out soups, casseroles and Sunday roasts?

Think again! Slow cooking is perfect for family life all year round, allowing you to return home to a nutritious meal, ready to serve in minutes. So go on! Dig it out of the cupboard and put it to good use with these tasty recipes.

Slow cooked pork is perfect for any season

BBQ Pulled Pork

This is a firm favourite with slow cooker addicts and known as ‘Epic Pork’ for good reason. Made with a shoulder of pork, it is slow cooked for over 8 hours until it melts in your mouth. Whether you add the BBQ sauce straight away as a marinade, or add it during the shredding stage (for a saucier texture,) this should be top of your list. Serve piled onto bread rolls or with potato wedges and of course lots of summer salad vegetables.

Spicy Enchiladas

Summer Berry Fizz will cool down spicy tongues!

Like a bit of spice? These tasty Enchiladas are super easy to prepare and are a great way to get the children involved. Let them add theirfavourite vegetables and help sprinkle the spices for a guaranteed hit at meal time. Perfect on their own, they would also be great with corn on the cobs and a glass of family friendly summer berry fizz.

Frittata with Kale, Red Peppers and Feta

This light and fluffy Frittata is perfect to come home to after a morning swim or bike ride. Ready in only a few hours, you can throw this together in minutes and come home to a wonderful smelling and healthy lunch.  Add chopped leftover potatoes for a heartier meal.

Sausage and Bean Casserole
Holidaying in the UK? Don’t waste your time cooking! Why not take your slow cooker with you and try this sausage and bean casserole? Served with crusty bread, this filling meal is great to tuck into after a day at the beach and will give you the energy to enjoy a fun filled evening too.

Your slow cooker isn't just for main courses! Pineapple Upside-Down Cake

For a fruity summer bake, great for afternoon tea in the garden or to take along to a neighbour’s BBQ, try this pineapple upside-down cake. Colourful and delicious this is one recipe you will want to try again and again.

However you use your slow cooker, don’t be scared to change recipes to suit your family. With a little planning you can serve amazing food without investing too much of your precious time or effort. What’s going in yours tomorrow?
