Parent Update: PreSchool – Temporary Relocation

Saturday 31st December 2016

Dear Parents

We are writing with an update regarding the incident that occurred at the Pre School the week before Christmas.

Unfortunately, a driver went into the building in the early hours of Sunday and has caused major damage both externally to the front wall and internally damaging the bathrooms and causing major flooding.

Due to the flooding that occurred the floor has been badly damaged resulting in all the flooring needing to be replaced after the drying out process.

We are working closely with the builders and insurance companies to enable us to get this work completed as quickly as possible to minimize the disruption to the children and families.

Therefore, while this work is being undertaken it has been necessary to relocate the children to a temporary local setting. We have done this with the aim to offer some stability and continuity for the children, and continue to offer a convenient site for parents.

From Tuesday 3rd January, we have relocated the pre school team, children and equipment to the local Whaddon Village Hall, which is located between our 2 sites. Many of you will be familiar with this site as you may pass this on your way to Bumpkins and will know from your visits to the park.

The site offers us a large room for the children, entrance space for drop off time and a small enclosed off the road car park. We will also still be able to have all hot meals delivered by Dan and Lucy and we have a kitchen area to continue serving breakfast and snacks.

The team will continue to offer structured activities; child initiated planning and will be able to use the park on a regular basis. We hope that this adventure will cause as little disruption as possible to the children, we were so proud of them at the main site the week before Christmas as they all managed so well with the move to main Bumpkins.

Opening hours will remain as usual and the regular team will be with the children. Dropping off will be via the patio door entrance facing the park under the canopy and staff will assist with entering and leaving the site.

We have fully risk assessed the building, notified Ofsted of our temporary relocation and already have an existing risk assessment for the park area that will be reviewed.

Once again we appreciate your patience whilst we work together during this unfortunate situation and we will keep you informed as the work progresses.  We will have another update for you next Monday.

Please do contact us via email or talk to us at drop off if you have any further questions.

Yours sincerely

Nessa Taylor
